Don't forget that our may meeting will feature an evening with Christing Kent Bowles, as she discusses The Intimate Landscape. Christine will be back with us in June to talk with each participant about their images!
About Christine Kent Bowles
Christine Kent Bowles is an avid hiker and nature lover who has lived most of her life in Maryland. A Materials Engineer by training, Chris enjoyed immediate success when she started exhibiting and selling her nature photographs in 2004.Her passion for nature photography traces back to the early 1990s when she and her husband took up hiking and backpacking. Carrying a point and shoot camera on week-long treks into the wilderness, she set out to capture the natural world on film. After years of receiving compliments on her work, Chris decided to get more serious about nature photography: she purchased a 35 mm SLR camera and enrolled in a workshop at the Washington School of Photography. Since then, she has participated in numerous photography workshops and classes and exhibited her work at more than a dozen locations in the Baltimore area.
In 2005, Chris began teaching her own series of nature photography workshops and sold her first image for publication to Maryland Life magazine. In 2006, she started shooting commercial assignments and expanded her role as instructor. Chris currently teaches photography classes for several Baltimore-area education programs, including Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks and Roland Park Country School, in addition to her own workshops.
The beauty in the details of nature is what inspires Chris: "There is nothing like being out in nature - be it a remote wilderness or a local park down the street - up close and personal, immersed in the details." Through her images, Chris strives to capture her passion so that others may see and appreciate nature's details as she does.
This two-part seminar and critique series is free to CMPG members, and we encourage you to attend! For non-CMPG members, a $10 donation is requested.
