Web Site Focus

It may not look much different, but the CMPG web site has just undergone some significant upgrades. The three-hour-process included replacing and/or updating virtually every file associated with the CMPG web site, as well as restructuring the two MySQL databases that hold the site data. None of this will mean much to our visitors, except that pages should load faster, and images should be more finely rendered. To our members, it means that the member aspects of the sites should be a little easier to use.

During the upgrade, at least a couple of unpublished articles were found and “released.”

Great job Geren. I thought the site looked a little different, for the better.

    Hi Guys:
I’m running into 3 difficulties with the member galleries… perhaps you can help. I recently deleted (successfully) all of my photos in my gallery – no problem. And I tried to upload a new batch of photos – with only partial success.

    1. How do I select a particular photograph as my Album “Cover” in the member gallery?
    2. I’ve read the FAQs and I cannot figure out how to sort photos into an order that I prefer. I don’t see the sort screen that’s referenced in the FAQs.
    3. I’ve attempted several times to upload several photos at once in a batch. Flash is enabled. Am using latest Rev of Safari and the latest Snow Leopard MacOS. There are many instances where not all photos are uploaded successfully… and it doesn’t seem to be consistent from one attempt to another. Any assistance would be most appreciated. Thanks!

    Steve,

    In answer to your:

    1. Log in and go to the Manage Gallery selection in the main, left-hand menu. In the first section (Gallery Settings), you’ll see a drop down for “Preview Image”. Select the image from the list. The list will only show choices from the current page load of pictures, so you may have to move through the pages to get to the one you want.

    2. You can’t.

    3. Regarding batch uploading, it generally works best if you resize prior to uploading, especially for larger batches. Make the images 1024 pixels on the long side.

And, thanks to Debbie Jordan for helping me to find a couple of little snags in the new gallery configuration. It should be all fixed … for now!

    Re: 1 – Thanks! I’ll give it a try.
Re: 2 – Well, OK.. but in that case I’d like to suggest the web site instructions be updated to reflect that this is no longer supported
Re: 3 – Well I did resize before uploading, but I admit my pix were a bit larger than 1024 (I think 1080)… so I’ll cut back on the size and try again.
