November 01, 2008 we will be having a CMPG imaging event.

It will be held at Chestertown, MD (on the Eastern Shore).

The schooner SULTANA will be downrigged for the close of its sailing season. This is an annual event that draws many sailing vessels from around the mid Atlantic region. These include the KALMER NYCKEL, PRIDE OF BALTIMORE II, SCHOONER VIRGINIA, A. J. MEERWALD, LADY MARYLAND and the skipjack ELSWORTH to name a few of the 11 or so that will be on display, offering tours and sailing sessions for a fee.

To get a full idea of what to expect log into: http://www.sultanaprojects.org/downrigging08.htm

I’m not sure if anyone is interested in reservations for a sailing junket so let me know ASAP and I’ll begin the process of gettin g on-board. At the same time let me know your preference for sailing vessel. Even if you decide not to take a sail, the imaging opportunities are limitless. I’ll set up a schedule for the day after I get YOUR feedback once you have a chance to look at the day’s events. If I get no feedback I’ll simply assume that you will be attending at your pleasure.

Transportation will be by private car. So pick your travel mate(s) as you see fit. We will be having lunch at one of several places in Chestertown to be decided when we know how many will be attending the event.

The following will give you an idea of the sailing cost per vessel and the web site will provide a description of each. Please get back to me with your preferences as reservations will be needed should we “go a sailing”.

Saturday, November 1

There will be an informal lunch held at the Fish & Whistle restaurant. The restaurant is on  the harbor right there where the sails wil be set. It will be set between the morning and afternoon sailings. So look for us at around 12:45. I get back to you on whether we have reservations or not. . . . . .

I'll plan on about 10 for lunch . . . .

I sent a message concerning the proposed lunch at the Fish & Whistle restaurant and now I'd like to propose that we don't have a formal lunch meeting. . . but an informal lunch out of the proverbial brown bag right there on the strand surrounding the harbor.

The reason deals with the above sailing schedules that have the ships in harbor while we are at lunch . . from 12:00 to 2:00. It would be too claose a call to try to do it all in that time frame.

Please feel free to try the restaurant if that fits your preference. . .for planning purposes, the weather is supposed to be in the mid 60(s) with light clouds. It should be fine for alfresco dinning with the geese and ducks . . they love tourists with food.

Looks like there should be some 9 or 10 CMPG'er wandering around with lots of money hanging from their respective necks.

See you there Warren von Uffel better known as “guest”

There are any number of restaurants and cafes in the general area, too. Here's a link to the restaurant page on the Chestertown web site:

Geren is correct. There are several places that we've lunched at.

The Brooks Tavern is an excellent place nothing special but everything is made to order and very good.

The Blue Heren is very near to the harbor and is fine for a first time dinner. But their menu stays the same from month to month. The food is good. Their burer is nearly too much to eat. I like very much their shrimp and pasta with tomatoes.

We have also liked the Crossfire cafe. It is on the corner just around from the Blue Heren. Food is very good service is very slow. The owner does most everything and that adds time. When she tells you that a plate is “HOT” . . believe her!

Then there is the Fish Whistle right on the dock. It lunch is always good, nothing special but always well prepared and presented.

All of the above restaurants are not particularly expensive. Our lunches always are around $30 and always have one beer.
