There are two very different, but both very interesting, photography exhibits at the National Portrait Gallery in Wash, DC. One is titled "Portraiture Now" and shows some work of present day professionals who work for magazines and newspapers. This show runs through Sep 27, 2009.
The other is titled "Women of Our Time" and is a collection of photographs of famous women, from all walks of life, from say 1900 to the present. Most of these were shot by the big names in photography from the 20th century. In addition to being a great history lesson, the photographic techniques are inspiring. This show runs through Feb 1, 2009 (so time is getting tight).
I saw them this past Saturday and thought they were both excellent. The National Portrait Gallery is at 8th and F streets in DC, and near the Chinatown/GalleryPlace Metro stop.
