Preakness Frog Hop

Cheer on amphibian contestants as they try and top record jumps of over 8'. The Preakness Frog Hop will be held at Patterson Park. For additional information and for your entry form, call 410-396-6136. Registration will be accepted on the day of the Frog Hop from 11:00 am – 11:45 am. Happy Hoppin'!

20th Annual Preakness Crab Derby

Maryland's signature crustaceans will not be outdone in the 20th renewal of this popular event where local celebrities race crabs and the winner collects $500 for their favorite charity!

The Crab Derby is bushels of fun! Local celebrities race crabs to the finish, the winner receiving $500 to be donated to the charity of choice.

Hot Air Balloon Festival at Turf Valley

Thursday May 13, 2010 at 3:00 PM – Friday May 14, 2010 at 3:00 PM

Events to Include: Craft Vendors, Tethered Balloon Rides, Walk Thru Balloon, Balloon Glow (at dusk), Children's Pee Wee Preakness and other Children's Entertainment, Specialty Food & Drinks, and Live Music Entertainment.

Admission is free.

Tethered balloon rides will be available for a small fee.

All public parking will be offsite.

Hot Air Balloon Festival: You can wander around the Turf Valley grounds for free, snapping pictures and imagining how it would be to make like Phineas Fogg for a day (parking is off-site, at the Howard County Fairgrounds, 2210 Fairgrounds Road in West Friendship, for $5, with shuttles running to Turf Valley). You can buy food and crafts from all manner of vendors. But best of all, for a small fee, you can take a tethered ride in one of the balloons.
